Special Needs Tutor

Special Needs Tutor

Special needs is one of those catch-all terms that actually includes totally different issues, conditions, and needs.  The first thing to understand is that we totally get that your special needs children are always special first and foremost, and that their needs are there for us to find the best way to work with.  We are very careful ensure the right diagnostic information before charging ahead and teaching all students with special needs as if they actually have the same hurdles to overcome. Not only because we care, but quite simply it is a significant part of our success to correctly identify the areas where a student may be under performing due to underlying issues.  Our special needs tutors are prized for their experience with a wide variety of individual requirements, and for knowing the best techniques, and personal approaches that enable each and every individual to get the grades they deserve.

Leveling the Playing Field

We're guessing we don't have to tell you this but the fact is that students with special needs are often struggling uphill in more ways than one. In addition to their genuine individual challenges they are frequently sidelined by traditional educational establishments because they don't fit the classic model, are misunderstood, or are simply too much extra effort for hard pressed schools to keep up with. A private special needs tutor is your way of evening up the odds for your own special needs student.

Every Family, Every Child, is Unique

We know that every single case is truly unique. Even with two students sharing the same diagnosis of behavioral, psychiatric, or physiological condition they will not have the same hurdles, the same challenges, or the same triumphs to strive for. We believe that to understand and best work with special students we also need to understand and work with their families if we are going to present solutions and positive behaviors that will result in winning grades as the outcome.

Development

It's also important for a good tutor to be sensitive to the fact that with developmental issues a child's perceived hurdles will change and evolve as they do. The same individual will have different needs, requiring different approaches as they grow and the nature of their needs change over time.

Autism Spectrum/ADHD/Others

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most commonly diagnosed disorder of children and teenagers when it comes to presenting hurdles in their education. The fact that it is so common can (rightly) help take away any sense of stigma but it can also lead to it being dismissed and its importance missed. It's easy to focus on the hyperactivity and disruptive behavior but miss the student's own challenges at learning or achieving goals. We provide the attention that helps push through these barriers.  Autism and dyslexia often have the problem that not do they go unidentified but are often treated with misinformation or ignorance that only serve to increase the individual's sense of identification with the educational process. We ensure that our special needs tutors are specialists in each need and treat them accordingly.
